Killed With Kindness

I feel like the past week has lasted a month. But that is ok because there have been a lot of good things. :)

Here is the proof. Tanner Wilson made waffles for me for dinner. What a great child.

Then we went to Quinci's and fought some more crime. Crime of the night: Rogue carolers! Here is Tanner creeping... I mean performing recon and surveillance...

Yesterday Quinci was so kind and took me to the foot doctor here in Rexburg. The Dr. here is quite competent and he is putting me in physical therapy to 'team work' it with a phys therapist. I feel like I am in good hands with him. I felt super bad when I started crying... He looked really freaked out. Haha (In case you didn't know. I cry when I am frustrated. Not knowing what is wrong and how to treat it is... well frustrating.)

But thankfully Quinci metaphorically held my hand while the doctor pushed and poked the painful parts of my foot, took another ultrasound, and cried only a little bit. She had never been to a foot doctor before so she didn't know about the whole creepy foot thing podiatrists do.
As they talk to you, they touch your feet and sometimes even caress them. It is a little creepy.

Then she got her oh-so-famous spicy chicken from McDonald's.
Thank you so much, Mama Quinci. What would I do without you? :)

My sweet room mate Alexa, the homemaking wonder, insisted that I let her make me dinner tonight.

It was even really healthy! Rice, chicken, mango salsa, and... Yeah I don't know how to say the other part let alone spell it! Haha

Health science major? You bet.
Angel? Definitely. :)
Thank you, Sweet Alexa. It was so delicious and nutritious!

Are you sensing a theme? Because I definitely am. I am being killed with kindness! I am so grateful for the countless acts of service that are blessing my life. I am also grateful for a calling that allows me so many opportunities to serve. :) It is such a blast! [and occasionally an adrenaline rush when you are trying to be sneaky!]

Side notes:

Today in Old Testament my teacher had us make a list of qualities we look for in a spouse... [Yes. I do attend BYU-I DO.] We also had to choose a few people that we would want to choose our spouse for us if we had to have an arranged marriage.

Knudsen and Allen. You won for me.

I am pretty sure the dream I had today might be directly related to our class discussion.
My mom was really mad at me for not choosing Lizzie's best friend, Madison as one of my bridesmaids. So I woke up in a panic of who I was going to choose as bridesmaids before I remembered that I am actually not getting married right now. Hahaha oh yeah... :)

I know that somehow everything will work out. Even though sometimes it is not possible to see how or when. I am just so grateful to be where I am right now. Apparently there is a plan for me. "Isn't it great!?!"

Laugh At Me... With Me.

It's been a smooth week...

River of muddy slush. Meet boot. (And foot that I am supposed to be keeping warm...)

My movie choices this week...

Instead of be ashamed, I'll share what I learned. Haha I see it as a learning experience. I am gaining culture...

Thursday: Justin Bieber Movie.

I decided that amongst all of the Beliebers and Bieber-Haters I wanted to make the decision for myself. ... I still don't really have an opinion either way. But the movie was better than I expected. (Cheekie: You should watch this before you decide that you hate him.)

The funny thing is that I was curled up in my bed watching this in the dark with headphones in when my RS Prez decided to stop by and give me some info on my calling. Haha Yeah... She might be wondering if I was the right choice for this calling... Haha

Friday: North Shore

I wanted something warm to watch. Anything warm. I don't have my Soul Surfer up here so I typed it into Netflix. This came up as an option. An 80's surf movie. Neon short shorts and lots of Hawaiian lingo. What more could you want for a snowy night in Rexburg? It's no "Gidget Goes Hawaiian" but I have to admit: The parting line really got me. "Come back. You come back to the North Shore." Haha

Who knows what movies today will bring!

And then there was that embarrassing Shark Week incident...

Sometimes laughter is just the best option. :)

"For what do we live, but to make sport for our neighbors, and laugh at them in our turn?" -Mr. Bennett in Pride and Prejudice. :)

Your turn. :)

Cards Under the Table

This is an unusual blog... It started out as something completely different all together and evolved into what it is now... So if you feel like it doesn't really fit together very well... That's why. Haha (Not that my blogs are ever really put together well....)

My room mates were just the sweetest girls today. Taylor walked me all the way to class because it was really icy and things go a lot more smoothly if someone lends me an arm on the ice these days... Oh boot.
And then as if that wasn't enough kindness to last me a week, Alexa gave me a corsage that some random person gave her today! What the heck?? I love you guys! Thanks for being a great part of my day! You are such sweet room mates!

So today is the day! My first 'single-aversary.' Today is also Qunici's 3 month 'single-aversary.' So obviously we had a big celebration planned! (I am a big believer that you should take every opportunity to celebrate random occasions! Quinci humors me. Awesome, right?)

First, for our lunch date I brought party favors. AKA cuties for everyone!

Then a late-night ColdStone adventure.

Ashlyn came too, even though she isn't sure what she is celebrating... Probably just life. :) For ice cream, any reason is a good one, right?

Today was a pretty fantastic day already, but this added a certain majesty to it.

That's right. I am the proud renter of a bedroom ceiling with a wave about to engulf a shark next to an empty surfboard! Do you see it? Couldn't have plastered it better myself. ;)

Yesterday Elder L. Tom Perry came to campus for devotional. There just are not words to describe the experience... In fact, I tried to write a blog about it yesterday and I just couldn't.
Yep... I have been trying for like 20 minutes now. I just can't describe it right... All I can say is that it was such a powerful experience and the spirit he brought here was so tangible.

Everyday lately I see more and more ways that I have been so immensely blessed, despite the snow or my dang foot, or anything else that could happen. An experience like yesterday helps put things into perspective. Nothing else even matters. Jesus Christ. Love. Service. Family. These are the things that bring real and lasting joy. These are the 'things that matter most.'

I am pretty sure that Someone really loves me.
It kind of reminds me of playing cards with my dad. He always wants everyone to be able to go down so he will just slip you the cards you need under the table, chuckling all the while. :)
Just like my earthly father, I feel like my Heavenly Father is slipping me the cards I need under the table. He is also slipping me cards I didn't even know I needed. But lucky for me, He knows the game and He wants me to win.

"Isn't it great?!"

Invisible Ink

You know those days when you are pretty positive that something strange is written on your forehead? People ask you weird things or keep looking at you weird. ...... Today. Here are a couple of examples:

Some girls came up to me in the CrossRoads and asked if they could weigh me for a project. ...

Then while sitting in the Taylor with Quinci, a girl filmed us for a long time. I am afraid we might end up the screen at devotional... Yikes!

I don't even want to know what is written on my forehead today. Haha At least I had one of my 'Librarian Sweaters' to enjoy it with me. :)

The ink is invisible to me, but maybe you can make it out. If so, enjoy. :)

Addition:
Tonight at our ward social, we practiced being in abusive relationships and called it commitment... AKA we played "The winking game."

Circle of chairs. Girls sit, guys stand behind. The man with the empty chair winks at a girl and she tries to get up and run to that chair before the guy behind her touches her with 2 hands. I got away from the too-nice Addison and ended up in front of this wall of a man. He is a big, buff guy.
I never got away from him. His hands fit completely around my waist. Haha

And I repeat... Being in the YSA scene is just awkward on so many levels.
Oh Rexburg... :)

Much Love!!

R.X.B. PD

Good news: Kachow!!! 90 out of 90! Now if I can just pass the music one!

Room mate bonding. Dear Alexa and I 'girl talked' over citrus fruit about whether or not we actually like boys... We do. ... Most of the time. She is such a sweet girl and I am lucky to have her as a room mate! :)

Once upon a Friday night, the sheriffs in town (Ashlyn, Quinci, Tanner, and Michelle) wanted to go to Twizlberry. Except it closed! :(

So they went to Neilsen's instead where they saw another classic "only in Rexburg" sign. Date menu.

Then they went to Walmart where Tanner drove me to this mental state (because he knows exactly what to say after many games of 'Tanner Truth or Dare'), drove Ashlyn to the point of violence (Racist boys don't get toys), and made Quinci just laugh a lot.

Stopping crime at Sammy's. R.X.B. P.D. No big deal.

So we met someone who may or may not have been the "New Spice" guy. Quinci really wanted a picture with him. Tanner took about 3 million pictures of Quinci trying to convince me to go with her. Here is my favorite. Our mouths and the "New Spice" guy.

She owes me big.

Hard to tell with the hat, but his voice sounded right.

I am grateful to have such great dorks to hang out with. The break from a week packed with homework was exactly what we all needed. I think 2 words pretty much sums up our whole night.

Oh Rexburg....

Now onto MORE homework! Wish me luck.

Much Love!!

A 'Colorado Thing' Called Responsibility.

I feel like I have learned a lot of little things the past few days. I guess it is time to write a few of them down on this blog of mine...

14ers. I always thought that "Fourteeners" was a universal term. Guess what. It's not. Turns out it is a Colorado Thing. Who knew, right?

Broulim's. Things are looking good. I think I have actually been to the store 3 times this semester without a single old man cornering me and hitting on me! (In case you were wondering... this is an unusual occurrence for me... Just ask Quinci. She enjoys educating people about this phenomenon.)

Remember that time when Quinci made me eat at the Cross Roads for the first time and I was really scared? Well I am a pro now. She kindly took this picture of me "loving" the Cross Roads. It's hard not to when you have an hour and a half of quality lunch date there everyday with great folks.

This next one may shock some people... Like you, Mom. Make sure you are sitting down, ok?

I have done this crazy thing this week called not procrastinating. It means that I have done my homework on the day it was assigned instead of waiting until the last minute. It's weird. I feel all accomplished and smart and like my time is being used wisely... I don't know how I feel about it yet. I'll let you know.
Oh yeah, and I made 55 note cards last night to help me study my classical pieces... What is happening to me? I'm not allowed to be this responsible...

I hope you got through that ok, Momma. ;)

Yesterday Rexburg was face-hurting-ly cold. Today it is worthy of tears. The worst part is actually the wind. I think it can actually penetrate any material no matter how many layers you wear. (The weight college students in Rexburg gain is pure cotton and polyester...) And those toe warmers that are supposed to last for 6 hours... They've never met Rexburg before. Try 3 hours... Maybe. Sorry toes!
But I have decided that wind is partly a blessing. You don't have to feel like a lazy, yucky person for not doing your hair because everyone's hair is all over the place! It's great! And it makes the beautiful days seem that much better. Thanks, wind!

But mostly I have re-learned that my Father in Heaven loves the people around me. And He loves me too. That knowledge is invaluable to me. :)

Much Love!!

Sammy's, Meet Wendy's.

Beauty and the Beast = AMAZING. The music is fantastic, the story is inspiring, and the prince is especially scary (when he first turns around to show his human face) in 3D! Haha
(But I do have to admit that the book is better.... I would recommend Beauty by Robin McKinley to everyone!)

Gorgeous glasses.

After BatB we went to Sammy's. Sammy's is the happenin' retro diner where bands play. But Sammy's is kind of pricey... So we decided to bring Wendy's to eat there...

Highlights? When a couple got engaged. Typical Rexburg. Oh yeah, and there was that part where Tanner whipped a pencil out of his pocket and drew Spider Man on a napkin...

Sunday was fantastic! After church and a nap, Quinci and I decided to play Scrabble.
We played.

And played....

For 3 hours. Haha The last game we played was "anything goes." We could not use real spellings of words. It was harder than we thought, but really funny. :)

Then Ashlyn's FHE family adopted Tanner and I officially. We had dinner and made cookies out of "doe." They are nice folks. :) Thanks, guys!

The night was finished off with a goofy late-night laugh off with my 2 room mates across the hall in my apartment. Phrase of choice: "Ow yu duen!?"

Today I was assigned a David A. Bednar talk for a class. I was listening to it when I realized how much I needed to hear this talk right now. I just don't think this assignment was a coincidence. This is a fantastic talk about scripture study and making decisions.

http://lds.org/media-library/video/ces-firesides?lang=eng&id=2007-02-01-reservoir-of-living-water#2007-02-01-reservoir-of-living-water

If you're looking for a good talk, I'd recommend it. :)

I am amazed every single day at the way everything fits together in my life and at the blessings of all kinds that come into my path. The Lord really does love us. I know it.

Much Love!!
